Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is days from launch, and the useful question for buyers is no longer whether the campaign looks strong on paper. Reviews are already out, deluxe early access opens this weekend, and Bandai Namco’s store pages spell out four distinct packages with very different extras. This guide lines those editions up against the calendar so you can decide whether Standard is enough, whether Deluxe’s early access is worth the bump, and when the Joker collector packs actually make sense.

Everything below comes from Bandai Namco Europe’s “All You Need To Know” post, the PlayStation Blog launch announcement, and the Xbox Store Deluxe listing. Regional clocks differ by label, but they point at the same moments once you convert time zones.

The launch calendar, in one place

Deluxe Edition, Joker Flight Pack, and Premium Joker Flight Pack owners get a three-day head start. PlayStation Blog and the Xbox Store both put early access at September 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT. Bandai Namco Europe lists the same window as September 29 at 00:00 CEST, which is the identical instant written in European local time. If you buy Deluxe digitally between that early-access start and the full launch, Bandai says the download arrives already unlocked for the early window.

The full multiplatform launch is October 2, 2026 on the European and Japanese calendars. PlayStation Blog’s regional rundown is October 1 at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET, which rolls into October 2 at midnight CEST and 7:00 AM JST. Platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

US console storefronts list Standard at $69.99 and Deluxe at $89.99. Bandai Namco Europe quotes Standard at €69.99 and notes that other editions and currencies vary by store. Physical Standard and Deluxe discs are available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in participating regions; the Joker packs are Bandai Namco store exclusives and, for now, Steam-code PC only.

Deluxe’s Customizable Cosmetic Set covers the Tasha lobby costume, F-4E “MOBIUS SQUADRON” and F/A-18C “TEAM ZVEZDA” multiplayer skins (campaign unlock after you finish the story), and scarlet missile smoke for online aircraft. The Premium ACE Pass Plus voucher opens the paid seasonal track and skips 30 levels on that pass when redeemed.

Pre-order bonuses and what Ace Combat Zero actually is

Any edition pre-ordered before the October 2 launch includes the playable F-14A and a port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Bandai is explicit that Zero is not a remaster: it is a 2006 port running on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a limited language list that may not match Ace Combat 8’s localization. Treat it as a historical bonus disc, not a modern remake, when you weigh the pre-order pitch.

Early access is the other pre-order lever, and it only attaches to Deluxe and the two Joker packs. Standard owners wait for the full launch even if they pre-order.

Who should buy which edition

If you…BuyWhy
Want the campaign and online modes at launch priceStandardKeeps the $20 Deluxe delta; still gets F-14A + Zero if you pre-order

Collect physical Ace Combat merch and play on SteamJoker or Premium JokerVinyl + artbook (Premium adds patch and LED mousepad); Steam code only today
Play on PS5 or Xbox and want physical collectiblesDeluxe + wait, or skip packsJoker packs are not offered as console SKUs on the Bandai store pages we checked

Online is a separate progression track from the campaign. ACE COMBAT ONLINE uses 100-player lobbies, cross-play, co-op assault and warfare modes, and a free ACE PASS with an optional Premium track. Deluxe’s Premium ACE Pass Plus voucher only matters if you plan to grind that seasonal multiplayer layer; pure campaign buyers can ignore it without losing the single-player story.

Plain verdict

If you are on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and mainly want the reviewed campaign, Standard plus a pre-order still nets the F-14A and the Zero port without paying for early access or cosmetics. Step up to Deluxe only if the September 28/29 head start or the Premium ACE Pass Plus voucher changes how you will spend the first week. The Joker packs are collector products aimed at PC buyers who want vinyl and the artbook, not a better console path.

Cross-check your storefront before you buy: early-access wording is clearest on the PlayStation Blog, Xbox Store Deluxe page, and Bandai Namco Europe’s September 22 overview, and physical disc availability still varies by country.
