Crimson Desert Enhanced has a five-hour base-game trial, but the entry requirements differ between consoles. Xbox Series X|S players don’t need a subscription for this offer; on PS5, you need PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe.
That makes your platform the first thing to check, before comparing editions or watching the new expansion’s trailer. The trial is a way to decide whether you want the base game. It isn’t five free hours of the newly released DLC.
Pearl Abyss’s trial FAQ sets out the five-hour allowance and says progress carries into the full game if you buy it. Pure Xbox’s report corroborates the different console requirements, the progress transfer and the limit of one trial per account.
Choose the trial before choosing an edition
On Xbox, the useful first step is to find the Crimson Desert Enhanced listing and check for the trial option. The report specifically points readers to that listing. We haven’t tested the storefront flow ourselves, so confirm that the option shown to your account is the trial before starting a purchase.
On PlayStation, check your membership tier first. Having some form of PlayStation Plus isn’t the same as having Premium or Deluxe. If you already qualify, the trial gives you a bounded way to assess the game. If you don’t, weigh any subscription cost separately rather than treating this as an unconditional free offer.
The five hours are the play allowance, not a deadline measured from the announcement. The FAQ lists January 7, 2027 as the end of Xbox availability, also corroborated by the report. There’s a small but important inconsistency in Xbox Wire’s announcement: its summary says January 7, while the closing paragraph says January 6. Check the current store terms before leaving your download to the last day; we aren’t assigning an exact cutoff time that the sources don’t consistently establish.
Use the allowance to answer your own questions
Treat this as a purchase test rather than a race to see as much content as possible. Pick a few things you want to learn: whether the controls feel comfortable, whether you enjoy moving around the world, and whether you want to keep playing after a normal session.
Progress transfer means you can continue from the trial if you decide to buy. It doesn’t turn the allowance into an unlimited demo: the stated trial limit is once per account, so don’t plan around restarting it for another five hours.
Finally, keep the base game and expansion separate. Xbox Wire describes this as a base-game trial alongside the release of Charting the Unknown. The expansion’s announcement doesn’t make its content part of the trial.
Check your platform’s access requirement, select the trial rather than a paid edition, and use the time to decide whether the base game is something you want to own.
