Cyberpunk 2077's free Edgerunners 2 update will launch on October 22 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Switch 2 is also getting update 2.5, but Nintendo's version is not part of that dated rollout: its release will follow, without a confirmed day.
CD Projekt Red's announcement describes the Switch 2 release as following shortly, a schedule also reported by Noisy Pixel. That confirms a Nintendo release is planned, rather than leaving the platform out of the update. It does not give Switch 2 owners the same October 22 date as PS5 and Xbox Series players.
Cyberware customization and dual-wielding get a preview
The first named additions are cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle. Both appear in the official REDstreams preview and Gematsu's report, although neither explains their equipment requirements or progression rules. The announcement identifies features, not a complete breakdown of how they work.
CD Projekt Red will demonstrate the update during REDstreams on October 21 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET, or 5 p.m. CEST. The studio lists the European time, while Gematsu supplies the matching US times. Viewers can watch on Twitch or YouTube; the official announcements also list Steam, as does Noisy Pixel.
Official patch notes are scheduled for October 21 too. CD Projekt Red and Noisy Pixel both place publication on the preview day, ahead of the dated PS5, Xbox Series and PC launch. Neither report supplies a download time for those platforms.
Why this is an Edgerunners update
The announcement accompanies the October 20 Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. CD Projekt Red and Noisy Pixel both report that all ten episodes are available, with the new anime telling a standalone Night City story featuring a different cast. The game update will include content inspired by that series alongside other new items and features; the full selection has not yet been detailed.
For console players, the platform list is as important as the feature list. Both the studio's schedule and Noisy Pixel's report name PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, but neither includes PS4 or Xbox One in the update rollout. The October 22 date should not be read as confirmation for those older systems, or for Nintendo's version.
Read the October 21 notes for the features you want, then check your platform's release date before planning your return.
