Battlefield 6 lands on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Tuesday, Oct 13, the same day EA starts Season 5 and its two new Nevada maps, Vegas Strip and Area 51. That makes tomorrow the cheapest way into the shooter for anyone who skipped it at launch: Steam still lists the standard edition at $69.99. One catch for Xbox players on the cheaper tiers is that Xbox Wire names only Ultimate and PC Game Pass for this one, so Game Pass Premium and Essential members don't get it. Neither Microsoft nor EA has given an unlock hour, so don't count on it appearing at midnight. Dates, store prices and listings in this Drop were checked on Oct 12, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. PT.
A busy Tuesday on Game Pass
Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike from the Ghostrunner team, joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one. Lyrical Games' launch release puts the unlock at 10:00 a.m. PT on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with no preorders and no early access, so there's no preload either. Outside Game Pass it costs $39.99, or $59.99 for the Deluxe Edition with next year's story DLC. Gamepur noticed the PS5 listing showing 6:00 p.m. UTC, an hour later than the official time, so PlayStation players shouldn't panic if it's not there until 11:00 a.m. PT.
PS5 owners also get a way to try it without buying. One More Level says there's a 90-minute PlayStation Plus trial of the full game, and GamingBible reports that progress carries over if you buy it afterwards. It sits in the Premium tier's Game Trials, so Essential and Extra members won't see it.
Deep Dish Dungeon, a co-op survival game with metroidvania-style exploration, arrives on the same Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers tomorrow too.
Battlefield's free trial skips Xbox
Later in the week, Battlefield 6 goes free to try on PlayStation and Steam, but EA's own dates don't quite match. The Season 5 roadmap advertises a trial from Oct 15 to 19, while EA's legal disclaimer gives exact windows that start earlier on PlayStation: Wednesday, Oct 14, at 8:00 a.m. PT until Monday, Oct 19, at 1:00 p.m. PT. Steam runs from Thursday, Oct 15, at 10:00 a.m. PT until Monday, Oct 19, at 10:00 a.m. PT. Timesaver spotted the same mismatch. Xbox isn't listed at all, which makes sense when Game Pass Ultimate already covers it.
The fine print matters if you're on PS5. EA says console access "may require a premium console account or subscription," which on PS5 likely means PS Plus for online play, and the trial can be used once per EA account. Anything you buy during the trial carries into the full game.
Resident Evil's Switch 2 remakes arrive Friday
Capcom's native Switch 2 versions of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition release digitally on Friday, Oct 16. They're sold separately, with no bundle. Nintendo Life notes that RE2 includes its earlier DLC and RE4 Gold adds Ada Wong's Separate Ways. Nintendo's US eShop pages show launch discounts running until Nov 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT:
| Game (Switch 2) | Regular price | Launch price | Discount ends (PT) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition | $49.99 | $39.99 | Nov 7, 11:59 p.m. |
| Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition | $39.99 | $29.99 | Nov 7, 11:59 p.m. |
| Resident Evil 3 | $29.99 | $19.79 | Nov 7, 11:59 p.m. |
Buying all three at the launch price comes to $89.77, or $119.97 at full price, so there's no rush to buy before Friday. The discount lasts three weeks past launch.
