Coral Island is coming to Switch 2 this winter alongside its 1.4 “Kids Grow Up” update. That's a useful addition to a Nintendo wish list, but it isn't a date you can book a weekend around yet.
This Saturday's roundup calls for three different decisions: wait for a firm date, claim an upgrade rather than buying twice, or remove an outdated launch reminder. Coral Island, Cult of the Lamb and The Wolf Among Us Remastered show why the console name and the type of announcement deserve as much attention as the game itself.
Coral Island has a window, not a launch day
Stairway Games' announcement and Gematsu's release report agree on the Switch 2 winter arrival and accompanying update. Kids Grow Up adds new family milestones and interactions as children get older.
The studio's official Steam announcement says the exact release date will come closer to launch. For now, put it on a watch list rather than buying another version simply because you're impatient for a Nintendo date.
If you're choosing this as your next long-running game, decide whether playing on Switch 2 is important enough to wait for. A seasonal window can help you plan a purchase budget; it can't tell you which holiday or free weekend to reserve. Nor does a platform announcement establish how the finished game runs in handheld or docked mode.
Cult of the Lamb owners should check the upgrade first
Cult of the Lamb has the firmer appointment: October 22 on Switch 2, with a free upgrade for existing Switch owners. Nintendo Life reproduces Massive Monster's announcement, and Siliconera corroborates the date and upgrade offer.
If you already own it, there's no reason to rush into buying a second base-game copy before checking that upgrade. The announcement establishes the offer, but it doesn't provide the technical detail needed to promise a particular frame rate or resolution.
Treat October 22 as the day to inspect the upgrade instructions and see what's actually changed. If performance is your reason for returning, look for findings about the mode you use. A docked result wouldn't automatically answer your handheld question.
The Wolf Among Us needs a new Nintendo reminder
The Wolf Among Us Remastered will miss October 29 on Switch. Gematsu carries Telltale's full delay statement; GamingBolt also reports the change. PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC remain scheduled for October 29, while Switch has no replacement date.
Remove the Nintendo launch reminder rather than moving it to a guessed November day. If portability is why you wanted that edition, waiting for a confirmed date is more sensible than letting another platform's launch push you into a different purchase.
| Game and platform | Announced timing | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Cult of the Lamb, Switch 2 | October 22 | Existing Switch owners: check the free upgrade before buying again |
| The Wolf Among Us Remastered, PS5/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/PC | October 29 | Keep this date only for the listed platforms |
| The Wolf Among Us Remastered, Switch | Delayed; new date unannounced | Replace the old launch reminder with a release-date watch |
| Coral Island, Switch 2 | This winter; exact date unannounced | Wait for the dated launch announcement |
