Helldivers 2’s Scope of Authority Premium Warbond arrives October 20 with a long-range arsenal and camouflage-focused armor. Before you set aside an evening for it, decide whether you actually want to play your squad’s sharpshooter. A new equipment list is a better reason to try a role than to buy everything immediately.
The other useful decision in this Sunday’s Daily Console Drop concerns Star Wars Zero Company. Its October 15 update adds tougher campaign rules, but you choose them when starting a new campaign. If you’re deciding between continuing a save and beginning again, that distinction matters more than the size of the patch notes.
Helldivers 2 gives snipers more choices
Arrowhead’s announcement on PlayStation Blog introduces the R-40 Sightliner sniper rifle and two armor sets with the Stationary Shroud passive. The passive reduces weapon sway and enemy detection range while you’re crouched or prone. Catalyst Gaming Media’s equipment breakdown corroborates those details and the October 20 release.
Our practical suggestion: talk through the role with your regular squad before choosing your unlocks. Would you enjoy covering teammates from a stationary position, or do you prefer moving alongside them? The announced armor benefit makes that a useful question, without proving how strong the equipment will be in actual missions. We haven’t tested this Warbond.
You also don’t need to treat launch day as a completion deadline. PlayStation’s Warbond guide explains that Premium Warbonds require Super Credits to unlock, with Medals used for their rewards; Warbonds don’t expire. Catalyst confirms the same progression model. Check both balances before planning a shopping spree, and choose an item you want to use rather than assuming access to the catalogue means an instantly equipped loadout.
Zero Company’s challenge starts at campaign creation
EA’s patch 1.2 notes and Noisy Pixel’s update report agree that the new Campaign Modifiers are selected when you start a campaign, on any difficulty. Options include harsher injury limits, an added chance of permanent death and reduced health growth.
For a repeat playthrough, pick the kind of tension you want before combining restrictions. Making every defeat more consequential and reducing how much stronger your squad becomes are different challenges. Start with one change you can explain to yourself; stacking everything makes it harder to identify which rule is making the run enjoyable or frustrating. That’s our suggested approach, not a tested difficulty ranking.
| When | Update | Consoles | Decision to make |
|---|---|---|---|
| Available since October 15 | Zero Company patch 1.2 | PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Choose campaign modifiers before starting a new run. |
| October 20 | Helldivers 2: Scope of Authority | PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Plan a long-range role and check Super Credits and Medals before unlocking rewards. |
Keep your current Zero Company adventure if you’re still enjoying it. For Helldivers 2, put the new gear on your calendar, then let the role you want to play decide what deserves your resources.
