PlayStation Store's Planet of the Deals promotion opens October 21 and runs through November 4. Nintendo's US Screaming Deals sale ends sooner, on October 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT. If you're browsing both, don't treat them as one Halloween shopping deadline.
This Daily Console Drop is about making a small, deliberate shortlist before those windows close. The useful comparison isn't which storefront shows the largest percentage. It's whether the particular edition gives you something you want to play, on the system you own, without buying content twice.
PlayStation gives you a longer window
PlayStation Blog's announcement confirms discounts on PS5 and PS4 games and the October 21–November 4 promotion. Sony's Spanish announcement corroborates those dates and explicitly cautions that the timing and participating games can vary by region.
That caveat matters more than a countdown copied from someone else's store. Use November 4 as the advertised end date, then read the offer on your own account for the precise cutoff. We aren't assigning a single worldwide closing hour to the promotion.
Before choosing an edition, write down what you'd actually use. If you only want the main game, compare that purchase with the bundle rather than assuming the bundle is better value. If you already own a version, inspect the included content and supported platform carefully. A similar title or cover isn't enough to settle whether you're buying something new.
For a game you haven't considered before, make a separate decision about whether you want it at all. Only then compare its editions. Otherwise, the sale page ends up choosing your next game for you.
Nintendo's US deadline falls on Halloween
Nintendo's Screaming Deals announcement covers selected digital games and DLC for Switch and Switch 2. Its US Halloween collection repeats the October 31, 11:59 p.m. PT deadline. These are US promotion details, not a promise about every regional eShop.
Start with the full product name and system label. Then check whether the offer is for a complete game or an add-on. Nintendo's terms say the base game is required for DLC; buying an expansion without the matching game won't solve your weekend plans.
My suggestion is to keep two short lists: games you could start next, and extras for games you're already playing. Give the first list a realistic limit. Give the second a quick ownership check before checkout. You don't need to fill either list just because a promotion is running.
| Promotion | Advertised deadline | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo US Screaming Deals | October 31, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PT | System, full game versus DLC, and required base game. |
| PlayStation Planet of the Deals | November 4, 2026; timing may vary by region | Your regional offer, edition and content already owned. |
Choose the game first, check the exact product second, and use the deadline only to decide when to finish that check. If nothing on your shortlist feels worth starting, let the sale pass.
