One Piece: Grand Gourmet arrives on October 23 with separate Switch and Switch 2 editions, but buying the Switch version doesn't give you an upgrade route to the Switch 2 version. Nintendo also says saves cannot transfer from the Switch version to the Switch 2 version. Choose where you want to keep your restaurant before you start building it.
This Daily Console Drop pairs that purchase decision with Modern Warfare 4's launch calendar. Both games have October 23 release dates, but the useful details sit underneath: which edition you're committing to, and which content actually belongs to launch day.
Pick your restaurant's edition first
The warnings appear in both Nintendo's US Switch listing and its Canadian Switch 2 listing. Neither offers a Switch-to-Switch 2 upgrade or a save-transfer route from Switch to the Switch 2 version.
That's worth checking before a casual “I'll buy this one now and change later” purchase. If you already know you want the Switch 2 edition, buy that edition from the outset. If you're choosing the Switch version, make the decision on that version's merits rather than budgeting for an upgrade that Nintendo says isn't supported.
Bandai Namco's announcement describes a restaurant-management game aboard the Straw Hat crew's floating restaurant. Nintendo's listings corroborate the premise and release date. The appeal is making dishes and shaping the restaurant, so the practical question is where you want to invest that time. This isn't a performance comparison between the editions, and we haven't tested either one.
Before paying, read the system label on the product page and check the edition again at checkout. If you're buying for someone else, ask which version they want rather than treating the shared game title as sufficient information.
Shipment follows Modern Warfare 4's launch
Activision's maps-and-modes guide puts Modern Warfare 4's release on October 23 and its Shipment multiplayer map on October 27. Xbox Wire's release list corroborates the launch date, while MW4.GG's roadmap report corroborates Shipment's later arrival.
If Shipment is the reason your group wants to get together, make plans for its own date rather than assuming it's part of the opening weekend. The dates below are calendar milestones, not confirmed PT unlock hours.
| Milestone | Announced date | Your practical check |
|---|---|---|
| One Piece: Grand Gourmet release | October 23, 2026 | Choose the Switch or Switch 2 edition before purchasing. |
| Modern Warfare 4 full launch | October 23, 2026 | Separate launch content from later additions. |
| Shipment in Modern Warfare 4 | October 27, 2026 | Plan a Shipment-focused session for the later date. |
You don't need to turn every release into a first-day purchase. Pick the edition you intend to stick with, and schedule multiplayer around the content your group actually wants to play.
