Monochrome Corp. and Good Smile Company spent Friday launching a brand-new fantasy IP rather than teasing a sequel. Ignisphere is the umbrella world, and its first game is the action RPG Dawngazer, directed by Takafumi Noma—the Unicorn Overlord director and character designer—at the newly branded Ignisphere Studio. Good Smile is publishing. The target window is 2028 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
That platform list is short enough to matter. Xbox Series X|S is not included in today’s materials, and neither company has announced a later Xbox plan. For Switch 2 and PS5 owners who liked Unicorn Overlord’s handcrafted presentation, this is the clearer takeaway than the teaser’s mood piece alone.
What was actually confirmed today

Good Smile’s PR Times release and the English write-ups that followed it (Anime News Network, PlayStation Lifestyle) agree on the core sheet. Dawngazer is an action RPG, not a strategy title like Unicorn Overlord. Languages planned at announcement are Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Yoshimi Kudō (Unicorn Overlord, Elden Ring credits) is composing, and the teaser track already features vocals coordinated by KOCHO.

| Director | Takafumi Noma (Unicorn Overlord) |

Noma’s pitch, as quoted through Monochrome’s materials, is continuity of authorship: the same hands-on approach he took on Unicorn Overlord’s story and character work, applied to a fresh setting of “numerous nations and races.” There is no combat footage, class list, or multiplayer claim yet—only the teaser and the 2028 window—so treat gameplay expectations as open until a proper reveal.
Beyond the game: novels and figures are already on the map
Ignisphere is being framed as a mixed-media brand from day one, which is the second piece most short write-ups bury under the trailer embed. Good Smile will handle merchandising, including figures. Separately, multiple light-novel projects are in development under Kadokawa’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. Exact titles and schedules were not posted with the game announcement.
| Channel | Partner | What we know |
|---|---|---|
| Game (Dawngazer) | Monochrome + Good Smile | Action RPG, 2028, Switch 2 / PS5 / Steam |
| Merchandise / figures | Good Smile Company | Merch window confirmed; SKUs not listed yet |
| Light novels | Kadokawa / Fujimi Fantasia Bunko | “Multiple” projects in progress; details later |
| Official updates | @IgnisphereX | Account launched with the announcement |
Dengeki Online and Famitsu also published a joint exclusive interview with Noma timed to the reveal. That is useful if you want development intent beyond the press release, but it does not change the platform or date sheet above.
Who should care right now
Switch 2 and PS5 players who follow Vanillaware-adjacent talent have a dated wishlist entry: put Dawngazer on a 2028 watch list and assume Xbox owners are outside the current plan unless a later announcement expands it. Collectors who buy Good Smile figures and Fantasia Bunko novels have a second reason to follow the Ignisphere account even before gameplay drops. Everyone else can wait for a systems trailer; today’s package is an IP launch with a platform map, not a demo or pre-order.
