Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School will let you tackle its puzzles without racing a countdown. The sequel’s optional No-Timer Mode accompanies online and split-screen couch co-op when it launches on November 5, giving puzzle partners a useful choice about how they want to spend an evening together.

That’s the feature worth discussing before you arrange a session. A timed escape can be exciting, but solving a clue and solving it quickly are different pleasures. An untimed option makes room for the pair who want to talk through every possibility rather than have one confident player rush the other toward an answer.

Iam8bit’s official game page confirms the mode and launch date, while the publisher’s Steam listing also describes solo play and both forms of co-op. These are announced features, not findings from our own playthrough. Removing the timer shouldn’t be read as a promise that the puzzles themselves become easier.

A campus to explore together

The structure is changing alongside the pace options. The sequel makes its campus an explorable hub with secrets and side quests between puzzle rooms. The developer’s PlayStation Blog overview says co-op extends across the campus, story and puzzles, and confirms the PS5 release for November 5.

The Xbox Store description similarly describes exploration between classes and lists Xbox Series X|S support. For players sharing a sofa, that suggests a useful question before starting: do you want to search every corner together, or keep moving toward the next escape? Agreeing on that matters as much as agreeing on whether to use the timer.

The timing is now reinforced by Xbox Wire’s coming-week schedule, which places the game on November 5 and identifies it as a Game Pass arrival. Don’t treat that label as confirmation that every subscription tier includes it; check the listing against the plan on your account before buying anything.

If you’re planning to play with someone elsewhere, check your specific platform pairing before committing, too. Online co-op alone isn’t a sufficient answer to every cross-platform question. For a first session, pick the pace you both enjoy and leave room to change your minds. There’s no reason to turn a cooperative puzzle evening into a test of who can think fastest.
