Famitsu’s Japan chart for the week of September 14–20, 2026 is out, and the first-week number everyone expected finally has a printed figure attached. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave opened at 127,131 physical copies on Nintendo Switch 2, enough for a clean No. 1 debut according to Famitsu’s own ranking and the English tallies from Nintendo Everything and My Nintendo News.

The same week also nudged Switch 2 hardware upward. Famitsu logged 34,341 Switch 2 units, up from 28,341 the prior week, while PlayStation 5 Pro managed only 219 through the same retail panel. Software depth around Fortune’s Weave mattered too: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Another Eden Begins all posted measurable first-week physical totals across Switch 2 and PS5.

Fortune’s Weave launched on September 17 as a Switch 2 release from Nintendo and Intelligent Systems. Famitsu’s monitored retail estimate for its opening chart week is 127,131 physical units, with no digital layer included in that figure. That put it ahead of every other new release on the same chart, including Falcom’s Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter and Sony’s Marvel’s Wolverine.

Hardware: Switch 2 still leads, Pro stays scarce

Hardware is the quieter half of the same report. Switch 2 remained Japan’s weekly hardware leader at 34,341 units, a gain of 6,000 on the previous Famitsu week. PS5 Digital Edition held second at 7,441. PS5 Pro’s 219-unit week sits awkwardly next to today’s separate Sony Store lottery news: retail panels are still moving almost no Pros even as SIE tightens direct allocation for active Japan accounts.

Platform split worth watching

Two multi-SKU launches make the chart more useful than a single No. 1 headline. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter sold 24,724 on Switch 2 and 21,753 on PS5 in the same week, a near split that favors Nintendo’s new hardware only slightly in physical retail. Another Eden Begins added 14,708 on Switch 2 and 9,237 on the original Switch. Combined, those two Falcom/WFS releases show Switch 2 absorbing a real share of Japan’s turn-based and RPG spend without wiping out older SKUs overnight.

For the rest of the fall, the Japan calendar still has obvious Switch 2 pressure tests ahead. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered arrives September 29 with a free upgrade path we already mapped for owners, and Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake is dated for November 5. Fortune’s Weave’s 127K open does not guarantee those will match it, but it does give Nintendo a clear first-party SRPG proof point in the weeks where Switch 2 hardware growth has cooled from its launch-year sprint.
