Gran Turismo 7 gets its first new circuit since last December at 11 p.m. PT tonight, Oct. 14, when the free Spec IV Part 1 update unlocks for every player. It's 7 a.m. BST and 3 p.m. JST on Oct. 15. The headline is Sportsland Sugo, the hilly Japanese circuit in Miyagi Prefecture, joined by six cars, six World Circuit events and a batch of garage and collecting features. Sony also showed a Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense for the series' 30th anniversary, priced at $84.99. Details were checked against PlayStation.Blog, gran-turismo.com, PlayStationTrophies and GTPlanet on Oct. 14, 2026, at 3:25 p.m. PT.

Six cars, and where to find them

Polyphony's notes list the patch as Update 1.72. The cars don't just appear in your garage. Each one has to be bought with in-game credits, earned or paid for, from a specific dealership:

Car Where to buy it
Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo Brand Central
Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26 Brand Central
Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23 Brand Central
Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94 Used Cars
Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston '86 Used Cars
Honda Civic Si Group A version '87 Legend Cars

The Used and Legend dealerships rotate their stock, so the F355, the 2 CV and the Civic may not be sitting there when you log in. That's where one of the update's quieter additions comes in. Players who have reached GT7's ending get a new Car Concierge. You pick a model, color and condition from the new Vintage section of Brand Central, and the concierge finds the car for you. Depending on Collector Level, you can have up to four orders open at once. GTPlanet reports that the service charges a fee on top of the car's price.

Sugo itself is 3,586 meters long with 13 corners, a 704.5-meter straight and close to 70 meters of elevation change, including a final corner that climbs at up to 10%. GTPlanet says it's the first location added after launch to support rain.

The rest of Part 1

Collectors get the most out of this one. The Collector Level cap goes from 70 to 90, and three new Café Extra Menus unlock at levels 75, 80 and 90, themed around high-performance EVs, tuned GT-Rs and Le Mans winners. Experience, a new set of brand challenges in Brand Central, launches with Xiaomi, Yangwang, Hyundai and Polestar. Car Viewer lets you pose your current car against different backgrounds with the lights and steering adjustable. Scapes adds Angeles Crest Highway and Sugo as featured locations, and there's a new opening movie. The update needs an internet connection.

Part 2 and the controller, on one calendar

Date (2026) What happens
Oct. 14, 11 p.m. PT Spec IV Part 1 unlocks for all GT7 players, free
Oct. 22, 10 a.m. local Gran Turismo DualSense preorders open (US PlayStation Direct: 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT)
December, no date yet Spec IV Part 2: Autumn Ring, Family Mode and six more cars
Dec. 10 Gran Turismo DualSense starts launching worldwide

Sony's September announcement on PlayStation.Blog set Part 2 for December, with Autumn Ring returning from the original Gran Turismo and Family Mode, which Polyphony describes as a welcoming starting point for family and friends with different levels of driving experience. Sony said Spec IV would add 12 cars across both parts, so six are still to come.

Is the $84.99 DualSense worth it?

The Gran Turismo Limited Edition is a cosmetic version of the standard DualSense: racing stripes, motorsport graphics and a textured, carbon-fibre-style front plate. Sony hasn't announced any hardware changes, so you're paying about $10 over a plain white DualSense for the look. It's €84.99, £74.99 and ¥12,480 including tax elsewhere, and it's sold in limited quantities. In the US, PlayStation Direct preorders open at 10 a.m. ET on Oct. 22. Direct also takes orders in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg at 10 a.m. local time, and participating retailers will carry it too.

Sony says Direct stock is limited and sold while supplies last, so if you want one, set an alarm for Oct. 22. Everyone else can just let the console download 1.72 tonight.
