Heartworm, the retro psychological survival horror that made a name on PC in 2025, is getting the full console treatment for spooky season. Publisher DreadXP and developer Vincent Adinolfi confirmed today that the game launches digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on October 1, 2026—the same day it arrives on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

You play as Sam, a young woman unable to move on after her grandfather’s death. An internet rabbit hole and a mysterious forum lead her to a remote mountain house that supposedly lets the living contact the other side. The pitch is deliberate 1990s survival-horror homage—think the mood of Silent Hill and the inventory tension of classic Resident Evil—with modern options layered on top.
Combat is limited and meaningful: your primary tool is a camera, not a shotgun. Exploration, classic puzzles, pre-rendered and in-game cutscenes, and a 4–6 hour runtime with multiple endings define the shape. Optional tank controls, PSX-style pixelation, and retro effects let players dial the nostalgia up or keep a cleaner modern presentation.
Why the Switch 2 date matters
For Nintendo’s mid-gen hybrid, October 1 is a clean digital day-one for a critically warmly received indie horror that already proved itself on PC.
