Modern Warfare 4’s October 23 Date Gets a Fresh Campaign Push From Xbox TGS

Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast did more than hand the closing mic to Hideo Kojima. It also re-centered the holiday shooter calendar on a date Activision has held all year: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026.

Infinity Ward’s campaign trailer, spotlighted during the Xbox TGS show and amplified on Xbox Wire, walks the familiar Modern Warfare beats—global stakes, grounded gunplay, and a Korean Peninsula flashpoint teased in official copy—while reminding players the clock is now measured in weeks, not seasons.

Modern Warfare 4 is confirmed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will not launch on last-gen Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Digital storefronts have generally listed the Standard Edition around $69.99, with Vault Edition tiers bunding cosmetics, operators, and a season of BlackCell depending on the SKU.

Players who pre-order the Standard Digital or Vault Edition get Campaign Early Access beginning October 16—a full week before the multiplayer and complete launch on the 23rd. That staggered unlock is the practical planning detail for anyone clearing storage or coordinating a squad weekend.

Why Xbox is still waving this flag

Even though MW4 is multiplatform, Xbox has every reason to keep the trailer loop loud: Game Pass Ultimate households, Play Anywhere PC/console buyers, and the broader TGS slate all benefit when the industry’s biggest annual FPS is treated as an event. The TGS broadcast mixed that message with same-day and near-term Xbox software noise, but the October 23 anchor remains the clearest mainstream date on Microsoft’s fall board.

With campaign early access a month out and the full launch immediately after, the next Activision communications cycle will likely shift from “here’s a trailer” to preload windows, installation sizes, and Season 1 timing once Warzone integration details firm up.
