Mole Mania is coming to Nintendo Switch Online alongside Avenging Spirit and Revenge of the ’Gator, and you don't need to upgrade to the Expansion Pack to play them. All three are headed to the Game Boy library, which is included in the standard membership.

Nintendo’s October Game Boy announcement confirms the lineup. Its Japanese release announcement lists October 27, 2026, a date also reported by VGC’s coverage of the three additions. Treat that as the announced update date, not a confirmed midnight unlock in your time zone. The announcement doesn't establish an exact Pacific release time.

The useful distinction here is the app, rather than the age of the games. Game Boy and Game Boy Advance sit in different parts of Nintendo’s subscription offering. If these three titles are your reason for revisiting it, start by checking what you already have before changing plans.

Which membership you need

Nintendo’s membership overview includes Game Boy in the standard Nintendo Switch Online plan. The Expansion Pack adds other libraries, including Game Boy Advance, but isn't required for this update. Existing Expansion Pack members also have access; there's no separate upgrade for these additions.

For setup, look for the Game Boy Nintendo Classics application, not the Game Boy Advance one. Nintendo’s Classics app and membership FAQ says members can download the included applications through Nintendo eShop on Switch or Switch 2 without an additional charge. Access still requires an active membership. Downloading the app isn't the same as purchasing the games to keep permanently.

Choose your first game by its central idea

Mole Mania is the puzzle option. You guide Muddy Mole through obstacles by moving objects and digging between the surface and underground. That gives it a clear starting appeal if you'd rather work out a route than immediately chase a score. It's the one I'd put first on a puzzle-focused evening's shortlist, based on its premise rather than a new hands-on assessment.

Avenging Spirit takes a different approach to action: your ghost protagonist possesses other characters and uses their abilities. Revenge of the ’Gator is pinball, making it the straightforward alternative if the appeal is flippers, targets and score chasing instead of a rescue adventure.

There's no need to turn this small update into a subscription overhaul. Check that your membership is active, make sure you're looking at the Game Boy app, and choose the style of game you actually want to play. An Expansion Pack purchase just for these three would be unnecessary.
