Capcom has locked a firm Switch 2 date for one of its biggest multiplatform hits: Monster Hunter Wilds launches on Nintendo’s hybrid on December 4, 2026, arriving as a complete package rather than a barebones port.
According to Capcom’s September 10 press release and follow-up coverage from the Nintendo Direct window, the Switch 2 build includes every free title update already shipping on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Hunters also get local wireless multiplayer for up to four players and full cross-platform online play—though Capcom has separately clarified that cross-save / cross-progression is not part of the deal.
Pricing and editions

Digital pre-orders open on the Nintendo eShop on October 19, 2026. The Standard Edition lists at $39.99, with an early-adopter cut to $29.99 for shoppers who pre-order before launch (Nintendo Life notes the discounted window running into mid-December in some storefront copy). A Gold Edition at $79.99 bundles cosmetic DLC, while a physical Deluxe Edition Game-Key Card at $39.99 pairs the downloadable game with a Deluxe Pack voucher.
Capcom also plans a free Prologue Demo ahead of launch and has confirmed that the massive Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion is scheduled for Switch 2 in 2027, matching the other platforms’ expansion window.
Why the date matters on Switch 2

Wilds originally launched on February 28, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Bringing a fully updated build to Switch 2 in early December positions Capcom for holiday hunts without waiting for next year’s expansion cycle. It also sits neatly after Capcom’s October 16 Switch 2 drop of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition—evidence the publisher is treating Nintendo’s new hardware as a first-class multiplatform lane, not a delayed afterthought.
Performance targets have not been detailed in Capcom’s English IR note, so docked versus handheld expectations remain a watch item until the demo or final tech specs land. For now, the confirmed checklist is clear: December 4 launch, all updates included, local plus cross-play, Ascendance next year, and pre-orders starting October 19.
