Daily Console Drop: Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Hits PS5, Player’s Choice Prices, Prime Day’s Last Hours

Wednesday’s console news is mostly about money and deadlines. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor reached PS5 overnight, the PlayStation Store’s Player’s Choice sale went live with a two-week window, and Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days ends tonight. Here is what each one means for what you buy today, followed by a look at tomorrow on Xbox.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is on PS5 now, but Switch owners wait until Friday

The PlayStation Store lists Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor for PS5 at $12.99, with a release time of 09:00 UTC today, which was 2:00 a.m. PT, and PlayStation Trophies reported the same price this morning. Three add-ons went up alongside it: the Heavy Duty Expansion at $9.99, and the After Hours Pack and Supporter Pack at $4.99 each.

The Switch date needs a correction, because some coverage, including Gematsu’s September 29 report, put all three consoles on October 7. Ghost Ship Publishing’s own press release from that day says PS5 on October 7 and Switch and Switch 2 on October 9, and Nintendo’s US eShop page agrees. It lists a single $12.99 Nintendo Switch version for October 9, with an estimated 1.5GB download on either console. PC players actually have the cheapest option right now, since Steam has the game at $7.79, 40% off. The Knockout expansion, which adds the melee Brawler class and the Sandblasted Corridors biome, still has no date or price.

Player’s Choice runs to October 21, and two of its best deals are already in PS Plus Extra

Sony’s Player’s Choice promotion went live on the PlayStation Store today, and the US store pages show the discounts ending at 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, October 21, and Push Square, AUTOMATON and Game Watch all give the same October 21 end date. We checked several prices on the store directly. ARC Raiders is $19.99, down from $39.99, with the Deluxe Edition at $29.99. Demon’s Souls is $17.49, down from $69.99, and Hell Is Us is $11.99, down from $59.99. Push Square also lists Battlefield 6 at $27.99, which is 60% off.

Before you buy either of the last two, check your subscription. Demon’s Souls and Hell Is Us both show as included with PlayStation Plus Extra on their store pages, so Extra and Premium members can already play them at no extra cost for as long as they stay in the catalog.

Prime Big Deal Days ends at 11:59 p.m. PT tonight

Amazon’s 48-hour sale closes at 11:59 p.m. PT tonight, according to Amazon’s own event page. As GamesRadar pointed out this morning, consoles themselves are barely discounted. The cheapest route to a PS5 this week is still Sony’s refurbished stock at PlayStation Direct, at $499 for the Digital Edition and $549 for the disc model, which is $100 under the new price.

Physical games are where Amazon is worth a look, but compare prices first, because the PlayStation Store sale overlaps. Screen Rant and 9to5Toys both list Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PS5 at $19.99 at Amazon, while the PlayStation Store still charges the full $39.99 for the standard digital version, so the disc is the better buy unless you already have PS Plus Extra, which also includes it. Hell Is Us goes the other way, since 9to5Toys lists the PS5 disc at $30, well above the $11.99 digital price. On Switch 2, both outlets list Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition at $39.99, which is $30 off.

Coming tomorrow on Xbox

On Thursday, October 8, Xbox Wire’s weekly schedule tags Echo Weaver ($19.99) as a Game Pass release, and Silver Pines, which scored NGC 88 in yesterday’s review roundup, arrives the same day. Neon Abyss 2 also leaves early access tomorrow on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch, according to Veewo Games’ press release. Pure Xbox reports it as a day-one Game Pass title, but Xbox Wire’s listing only marks it as Xbox Play Anywhere and the press release does not mention Game Pass, so check the Xbox store page before you count on it.
