Nintendo has pushed Switch 2 system software 23.0.0, a chunkier firmware drop than usual for the new hybrid — and it also updates original Switch firmware in the same wave.
Docked VRR is the headline
TV mode now supports variable refresh rate when both the game and the display can handle it, so frame pacing can track the game’s processing instead of a fixed cadence. Nintendo notes a Switch 2 Dock update is required for the feature, and a new VRR Settings option lives under Display.
Full Switch 2 → Switch 2 transfers
You can now run a complete data transfer between two Switch 2 consoles — saves, screenshots, the works — via System → Transfer all to Nintendo Switch 2. Handy for replacements and household hand-me-downs without the old piecemeal dance.
Smaller quality-of-life bits include background music in the Mii editor and stability fixes. If your Switch 2 has been nagging for an update, this is the one worth taking before your next docked session.
