Switch Sports Resort returns to Wuhu Island on Oct 22

Sportsmates play volleyball on a sunny outdoor court at Spocco Resort from Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Nintendo (Nintendo Switch Sports Resort European marketing still)

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is a Switch 2 exclusive that opens Spocco Resort on Wuhu Island on Thursday, Oct 22. The US eShop lists it at $49.99 with an estimated 16GB download. Store details and Nintendo's October lineup post were checked on Oct 13, 2026, at 9:52 a.m. PT.

Twelve sports, not a free upgrade

This is a new SKU, not a Switch 2 Edition patch for 2022's Switch Sports. Nintendo's listing names twelve activities: Tennis, Bowling, Archery, Boxing, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Prop Plane, Skateboarding and Power Cruising. Skateboarding, Prop Plane and Power Cruising are the clear resort-travel set — you also use them to sightsee around Wuhu Island, collect Spocco Photos and earn Spocco Points for cosmetics.

Who needs Nintendo Switch Online

Local play does not. Up to four people can play on one Switch 2 offline. Online Friend Lobbies (up to eight players, two per system), casual worldwide matches, Pro League and GameChat need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership plus internet. That split matters for families who mainly want living-room sports nights: the $49.99 game covers that without a subscription.

Island Crown is the offline progression hook IGN's preview flagged as a fix for the first game's thin solo menu — clear Champions, then Legends (including Matt), across nine sports. Cosmetics rotate through weekly and monthly Item Center collections bought with Spocco Points.

If you already own Switch Sports on the original hardware, there is no stated loyalty discount on the Resort eShop page. You are buying a separate Switch 2 game. Pre-orders are open now; the download lands Oct 22.
