No Man’s Sky adds direct star warping in its Forsaken update

Starships exchange green laser fire above blue water between mountains and floating islands in No Man’s Sky.

No Man’s Sky’s Forsaken update lets you target nearby stars and warp to them without opening the Galaxy Map. Alongside a new radial Multi-Tool mode selector and a minimal HUD option, it gives existing players a few useful reasons to revisit their controls before chasing the update’s stranger rewards.

Hello Games’ Forsaken announcement confirms all three additions. The practical appeal is straightforward: you can try a different way of travelling, choosing equipment and viewing the universe without making a new ship your first project. These are changes worth investigating separately, rather than switching everything at once and hoping the result suits you.

Start with the journey you actually make

The 7.10 update details describe nearby stars as targetable destinations in space. That’s the important limit to keep in mind: this is direct travel to nearby systems, not a promise that any distant destination can be reached by pointing at it.

If you’re setting off without a fixed destination, try the new targeting method on your next ordinary journey. If you have a particular place in mind, decide where you want to go first. A different interface is useful only if it supports your plan; there’s no reason to turn a familiar route into an experiment when you’d rather concentrate on arriving.

The same measured approach makes sense for the new radial selector. Try choosing the Multi-Tool mode you want in a quiet moment before relying on the wheel under pressure. We haven’t tested its controller feel, so treat its addition as an option to assess rather than a guaranteed improvement to your own setup.

Give the quieter screen a separate trial

Minimal HUD mode is another preference to test on its own. Before reducing the information on screen, think about which cues you regularly check. If you find yourself searching for information instead of enjoying the view, a cleaner picture isn’t necessarily a better arrangement for you.

Forsaken also adds collectible haunting mementos that can be traded for biomechanical corvette parts. That gives ship builders a new objective, but you don’t need to make collecting the focus of your first session back. Pick one interface change, take a familiar trip, and decide whether it belongs in your regular routine before adding another.
