September’s Game Pass wave is still finishing its last drops, but the October calendar is already clear enough to plan around. Xbox Wire’s September 15 Wave 2 post locked two early-month dates into the catalog, Devolver Digital fixed Mycopunk’s PlayStation Plus day-one arrival, and the usual mid-month announcement cadence for both services is now the thing subscribers should watch—not rumor lists.
What follows is a plain “what’s locked in” calendar built only from those confirmations, with the remaining announcement windows called out so Essential, Extra/Premium, and Ultimate owners know where the gaps still are.
The handoff out of September

Before October starts, Xbox Wire still has three late-September beats that change what the lower and upper Game Pass tiers look like going into the new month. Rematch joins Game Pass Essential on September 25 across cloud, Series X|S, and PC. The same day, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 expands onto Game Pass Premium (already available to Ultimate and PC Game Pass). Minecraft Dungeons II then arrives day one on Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 29.
September 30 is also a clear-out date. Xbox Wire lists Atomfall, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, Little Rocket Lab, Sifu, SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato, Sworn, and Terminull Brigade among the titles leaving the library. Finish anything you care about in that set before the calendar flips.
What’s locked for Game Pass in early October

Xbox Wire’s Wave 2 post is the primary source for the first two October Game Pass dates:
| Date | Title | Tier(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 2 | Keeper | Premium (also Ultimate / PC Game Pass) | Cloud, Series X|S, PC — wordless Double Fine adventure |
| Oct 6 | Gears of War: E-Day | Ultimate + PC Game Pass | Day-one catalog; Series X|S, handheld, PC, cloud |
Those two dates matter for different reasons. Keeper is a quieter Premium/Ultimate add that widens the early-October shelf without demanding a day-one frenzy. Gears of War: E-Day is the opposite: a major first-party day-one on Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and the clearest reason Ultimate subscribers have to stay put through the first week of October.
Xbox Wire has not yet published a full October Wave 1 or Wave 2 slate beyond those confirmed titles. Secondary roundups have floated additional October day-ones, but until Microsoft’s own Game Pass blog posts the dates and tiers, treat anything past Keeper and E-Day as unconfirmed for planning purposes. Historically the next wave posts land around the early- and mid-to-late-month windows; for October, watch for Wave coverage near the E-Day week and again around October 20.
What’s locked for PlayStation Plus
On the PlayStation side, the October Extra catalog already has one firm day-one stake in the ground. Devolver Digital and Pigeons at Play confirmed that Mycopunk leaves Steam Early Access and launches on PS5 on October 20 for $14.99, and that PS5 owners on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium get it in the Game Catalog on day one. That confirmation was also carried by Push Square and GamingBible after Sony’s earlier State of Play tip.
| Date | What lands | Tier | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| ~Sep 30 | October Essential monthly games announcement | Essential | Expected window (not yet posted) |
| ~Oct 6 | Typical Essential claim window after announcement | Essential | Follows usual cadence once Sony posts the list |
| Oct 14 | Full Extra / Premium October catalog announcement | Extra / Premium | Expected (Push Square / GamingBible) |
| Oct 20 | Mycopunk | Extra / Premium | Confirmed day-one catalog (Devolver) |
Mycopunk is a four-player co-op looter shooter about robot exterminators cleaning a fungal outbreak on New Atlas, with a grid-based weapon upgrade loop and a between-missions hub. It has already spent time in Steam Early Access; October 20 is the 1.0 and console debut. The rest of the Extra/Premium October shelf is still unknown until Sony’s October 14 reveal.
Side-by-side: who gets what when
| Owner type | Locked October value | Still waiting on |
|---|---|---|
| Game Pass Essential | Rematch already arriving Sep 25; no new October Essential titles locked by Xbox Wire yet | Any October Essential adds Microsoft chooses to announce |
| Game Pass Premium | Keeper (Oct 2); Black Ops 6 Premium access from Sep 25 | Whether E-Day or later wave titles expand beyond Ultimate |
| Game Pass Ultimate / PC Game Pass | Keeper (Oct 2) + Gears E-Day day-one (Oct 6) + Minecraft Dungeons II (Sep 29) | Full October Wave 1 / Wave 2 beyond the two locked dates |
| PS Plus Essential | Nothing locked for October yet | Sep 30 announcement, then the usual early-October claim window |
| PS Plus Extra / Premium | Mycopunk day-one on Oct 20 | Full Extra catalog on Oct 14 |
Plain verdict
If you pay for Game Pass Ultimate (or PC Game Pass), early October is already justified on paper: Minecraft Dungeons II at the end of September, Keeper on the 2nd, and Gears of War: E-Day day-one on the 6th. Premium owners get Keeper and the Black Ops 6 expansion, but not the E-Day day-one tier as currently listed. Essential owners should treat Rematch as the locked late-September win and wait for Microsoft to say whether October brings anything to that tier.
On PlayStation, Extra and Premium already have a concrete October 20 day-one in Mycopunk, which is more than Essential can claim until Sony posts the monthly list around September 30. If you only keep Essential, do not plan October around Mycopunk—it is an Extra/Premium catalog title. If you were debating an Extra upgrade for October, the Devolver date is the first hard reason; the October 14 Extra reveal will tell you whether the rest of the month is worth the bump.
Everything else—additional Game Pass day-ones after E-Day, the full PS Plus Extra shelf, and whatever Essential Sony picks—is still an announcement-calendar problem, not a locked-catalog one. Bookmark Xbox Wire for the next Game Pass wave and PlayStation’s Blog for the Sep 30 / Oct 14 posts, and treat third-party “full October lineup” roundups as provisional until those primaries land.
