Pikmin 4’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition gets a free demo on November 2, ahead of the full release on November 12. The sample includes the opening area and two Dandori Academy stages, giving you a chance to try the new challenge mode before deciding whether to buy.

This Daily Console Drop separates three things in Nintendo’s Pikmin Day announcements: a broadcast you can watch, a demo you can play, and the full game arriving later. Put the demo first in your buying plan rather than treating the celebration as a reason to pre-order.

Watch first, then try the new mode

Nintendo’s English Direct transcript identifies the demo’s opening area as Sun-Speckled Terrace. The Japanese transcript also confirms the November 2 date and two Dandori Academy stages. Neither gives an exact unlock hour, so don’t plan around a midnight download.

Before that, Nintendo has scheduled a Treehouse Plays broadcast for November 1 at 9 a.m. PT. Both the US event page and the game’s listing give that time. Watching is an opportunity to see the new mode explained; it isn’t the demo going live.

Dandori Academy asks you to collect treasure efficiently. For your own trial session, focus on whether planning routes and improving a run feels satisfying. You don’t need a perfect result to answer that question. Try a stage, change your approach, and see whether you want another attempt.

Check which purchase you actually need

The US product page separates the full Switch 2 Edition from an upgrade pack for people who already own Pikmin 4. The Japanese product page confirms that existing owners can buy the upgrade rather than the whole game again. Check your existing copy before choosing a store listing.

Nintendo also announced Hello! Pikmin, an animated-short series, with monthly releases planned from December. That schedule is confirmed in both Direct transcripts. Keep it separate from your download reminder: a new video does not signal a new playable stage or a game update.

The practical order is simple. Watch the broadcast if you want context, use the free demo to judge the new mode for yourself, then check whether you need the full edition or only the upgrade. Leave the purchase until you know what you want from it.
