Z-A's Oct 29 cart puts Mega Dimension on one card

Retail packaging for Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension

Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension lands Thursday, Oct 29, 2026, with the game and the paid DLC on one cartridge. Official Pokémon pages set that date; RPG Site and Notebookcheck later matched retailer listings at $99.99 in the US — the same total as buying the Switch 2 Edition ($69.99) and Mega Dimension ($29.99) separately. Details below were verified Oct 9, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. PT against those sources.

Who should buy the Oct 29 bundle

You already have… Buy Skip the Oct 29 cart?
Switch 2 Edition (digital or physical) Mega Dimension DLC only Yes — official pages say the DLC alone is enough
Switch 1 Legends: Z-A only Switch 2 Edition upgrade path and/or Mega Dimension as needed; the new cart is optional Maybe — only if you want Switch 2 features plus DLC on one card
Neither game nor DLC, shopping physical Oct 29 Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension cart ($99.99) No — one card, no separate DLC download for the expansion content on that SKU
Everything already, collecting Ultra Balls Only if the serial-code bonus is worth a second purchase Usually yes skip — Notebookcheck notes the balls are the main double-dip lure

The legends.pokemon.com Ultra Ball bonus page is explicit: if you already own the Switch 2 Edition, buy Mega Dimension separately. Completing the main Z-A story is still required before Mega Dimension's story unlocks.

Price check: $69.99 + $29.99 vs $99.99

Notebookcheck cites Amazon's US listing at $99.99 for the physical bundle and frames the separate prices as $69.99 for the Switch 2 Edition and $29.99 for Mega Dimension. RPG Site's update says retailer listings confirmed $99.99 and that, like earlier Pokémon game-plus-DLC carts, the bundle matches the sum of the parts rather than undercutting them. Official Pokémon posts do not print a US MSRP on the Ultra Ball page itself; treat the retailer-confirmed $99.99 as the live physical price to watch as Oct 29 approaches.

The Switch caveat on a Switch 2 Edition cart

Pokémon.com and the legends site both warn that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is also playable on original Switch hardware, but only as the Switch software content. Features and content that use Switch 2 hardware do not carry over when that cart is in a Switch. Buyers who plan to start on Switch 1 and move later should know the cart will boot, but it will not unlock the Switch 2-specific presentation until it is in a Switch 2.

Ultra Balls serial code

Bundle buyers get a serial code for 100 Ultra Balls via Mystery Gift. Pokémon's Ultra Ball page says the code is redeemed after roughly an hour of play, needs an internet-connected Switch or Switch 2 profile linked to a Nintendo Account, and does not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership. It is a single-use bonus per the usual Mystery Gift rules described there — useful for new journeys through Lumiose, not a reason for owners who already finished Mega Dimension to buy again unless they want the physical SKU.
