Sony’s latest PlayStation 5 system software drop is live today, and the headline feature is aimed squarely at PS5 Pro owners: Enhanced PSSR Image Quality is now on by default.
What Enhanced PSSR actually changes
According to Sony’s update notes, once you install the new system software, the Enhanced PSSR setting turns itself on. That means even games built around the older PSSR path can run through the improved upscaler for a sharper, clearer image — without digging through menus first.
The toggle itself shipped earlier when PSSR 2.0 arrived; today’s change is about making the better path the default so players don’t accidentally stay on the original upscaler. Base PS5 consoles do not get this feature. Pro owners who hit issues can still disable it under Settings → Screen and Video → Video Output → Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
Smaller quality-of-life extras
The same update adds a voice-chat speaker indicator (including optional name display and on-screen position controls) and a new Community Activity widget on the Welcome Hub with “Trending Now” and regional “Top 10” multiplayer views. Sony also tightened how the “Turn Off Bluetooth” accessory setting behaves in some regions — it’s meant for esports-style controller management, not everyday power tweaks.
How to get it
The update (reported as version 26.06-14.00.00 / software update 14.0) should download automatically when the console is on or in rest mode, or you can install it manually from PlayStation’s system software page. For PS5 Pro households, this is the rare firmware note that can change how games look the moment you boot them.
