World of Horror’s free As Below So Above update is coming to consoles in 2027, following its October 30 release on PC and Mac. For console players, the important detail is the separate release window: the Halloween update announcement does not mean the new content is available on every platform today.
Developer panstasz and publisher Ysbryd Games confirmed the timing in the official version 1.2 announcement. The update is now available to existing owners on Steam, GOG and itch.io. The console release has a year attached, but no specific date has been announced.
What console players are waiting for
The biggest addition for players interested in World of Horror’s stories is Scenario Mode. It introduces self-contained tales set before the main game, linking its mysteries through a different starting point. The announced Forest of Fear / Tapes of Tragedy scenario follows Makoto, a school audiovisual-club member filming a documentary about a forest legend.
That gives returning players something more directed to investigate alongside the game’s existing runs. Rather than judging the update only by the number of items it adds, Scenario Mode is the feature worth watching if you want more context for the strange events around Shiokawa.
The publisher’s launch release describes this as the game’s largest content update, increasing its size by 20%. That is the publisher’s measure of the added content, not a promise of a particular number of extra playing hours.
Three playable characters join the roster, including tarotist Kiriko and mountain explorer Satoshi. Two new manifestations of the Old Gods also change the threats facing the town: Ikt-Yosis brings strange weather, while The War for Shiokawa involves four cults summoning their masters at once. Additional events, enemies, items, spells, curses and injuries accompany quality-of-life changes and bug fixes.
What is confirmed for consoles?
The free update is scheduled for the console editions in 2027. This is an update to a game already available on consoles, not an announcement that World of Horror itself is making its console debut next year.
For now, console owners have a release window rather than a date to plan around. The new screenshots show the PC update; they should not be read as evidence that the console patch has launched. A more precise console release announcement is still the detail to watch next.
