October’s Game Pass calendar is no longer a mystery board of one-off Wire posts. Keeper is already live on Premium today, Gears of War: E-Day lands on Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Monday, and Pure Xbox’s running October list now stretches through Terrible Lizards on the 29th. The useful question for owners is not “what’s coming,” but which tier actually unlocks which date, and whether a four-day upgrade before E-Day is cheaper than buying the campaign outright.
This guide stitches Xbox Wire’s September 15 Wave 2 post, Xbox’s E-Day product FAQ, Microsoft’s April 2026 Ultimate price update, and Pure Xbox’s October coming-soon table into one owner map. It is not a review of E-Day or Keeper. Numbers below are publisher or storefront figures; regional taxes and promotions can change the final checkout total.
October 2026 Game Pass calendar (confirmed so far)

Pure Xbox’s October guide is the cleanest date-by-date sheet currently in public. Xbox Wire independently confirms the two headline beats that matter most this week: Keeper on October 2 and E-Day on October 6. Tier labels below follow those sources, Premium for Keeper, Ultimate and PC Game Pass for E-Day and the later day-one style additions.
| Date | Game | Platforms (listed) | Tier callout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 2 | Keeper | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Premium (Wire: also joining Ultimate / PC Game Pass) |
| Oct 6 | Gears of War: E-Day | Series X|S, PC, Cloud, Handheld | Ultimate, PC Game Pass (day one) |
| Oct 8 | Echo Weaver | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 8 | Neon Abyss 2 | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 13 | Deep Dish Dungeon | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 13 | Valor Mortis | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC (day-one Game Pass title) |
| Oct 15 | Beyond These Stars | PC only | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 15 | Chained Beasts | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 27 | The Seance of Blake Manor | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
| Oct 29 | Terrible Lizards | Series X|S, PC, Cloud | Ultimate, PC |
Two October console releases that keep showing up in wider “games this month” roundups, Star Wars: Galactic Racer (Oct 6) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (Oct 23), are not on that confirmed Game Pass list. That matches Microsoft’s April policy that future Call of Duty launches skip day-one Game Pass and arrive about a year later. Treat both as buy-to-own unless Xbox publishes a later Game Pass date.
Premium vs Ultimate for this week’s forks

Xbox’s own “Play Day One” explainer is blunt: day-one games sit on Ultimate and PC Game Pass, not Premium or Essential. Premium can still play many new Xbox-published games within a year of launch (Call of Duty titles excluded), which is a different promise from “Monday morning with everyone else.”
| If you care about… | Premium ($14.99/mo US) | Ultimate ($22.99/mo US) | PC Game Pass ($13.99/mo US) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keeper today (Oct 2) | Yes, Wire lists Premium | Yes | Yes |
| E-Day day one (Oct 6) | No day-one access | Yes | Yes |
| Valor Mortis day one (Oct 13) | Not listed for Premium day one | Yes (per Pure Xbox) | Yes |
| Cloud gaming + console/PC library in one sub | Limited vs Ultimate stack | Full Ultimate stack | PC + that tier’s cloud rules |
| Modern Warfare 4 at launch | Buy separately | Buy separately (day-one CoD excluded) | Buy separately |
The practical gap this weekend is eight dollars a month between US Premium and Ultimate. That is the figure to weigh against E-Day’s Standard Edition sticker of $69.99 and Premium Edition at $99.99 on Xbox’s product page, or the $30 Premium upgrade if you already own Standard.
Owner decision matrix before Monday
| Your situation | Practical move | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Already on Ultimate or PC Game Pass | Stay put; queue E-Day for Oct 6; play Keeper today if you want Double Fine’s puzzle adventure | Day-one E-Day is already included; no need to buy Standard unless you want to own it offline forever |
| On Premium, want E-Day Monday | Upgrade to Ultimate before Oct 6, or buy Standard / use Premium Edition early access if you already paid for that SKU | Premium does not get day-one E-Day; Ultimate is $22.99/mo US vs $69.99 Standard |
| On Essential or no Game Pass | Ultimate (or PC Game Pass on PC) if October’s day-one list is the point; otherwise buy E-Day only | Essential is not the day-one tier; a single-month Ultimate trial can cover E-Day + Valor Mortis if you cancel after |
| Already in E-Day Premium Edition early access (since Oct 1) | Keep playing; Game Pass Ultimate still matters for friends who did not buy | Early access was a paid-edition perk, separate from the Oct 6 Game Pass day-one window |
| Only care about Keeper this weekend | Premium is enough for now | Wire’s Oct 2 line is Premium; upgrade later if E-Day or Valor Mortis become must-plays |
One nuance from earlier NGC coverage: Premium Edition early access for E-Day already opened October 1 for people who bought that SKU. Game Pass Ultimate’s day-one window on October 6 is the broader library unlock, not a second early-access pass. If you are mid-campaign on a Premium Edition code, you are ahead of the Game Pass crowd either way.
What this calendar still does not promise
Microsoft can still announce more October Game Pass games after this morning. Leaving dates for mid/late October have not been locked the way September’s exit list was. And “day one on Game Pass” still means you are renting access while subscribed, Xbox Play Anywhere ownership is the path if you want the same save on console and PC after you cancel.
For a quiet Friday plan: finish or sample Keeper on Premium today, decide the Premium-to-Ultimate jump before Monday if E-Day is non-negotiable, and treat Galactic Racer and Modern Warfare 4 as separate wallet lines until Xbox says otherwise.
