Daily Console Drop: NBA 2K25 Shutdown Dates, Kingdom Hearts’ 131GB Switch 2 Install, GT7 Spec IV Timing

Monday, October 5 is more about planning than new unlocks. 2K has put an end date on NBA 2K25, Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] buyers now know how much storage and how many Platinums they are getting this week, and Gran Turismo 7’s first Spec IV drop reaches North America a few hours before the date on Polyphony Digital’s own news page.

NBA 2K25 leaves stores October 30, and its online modes end December 31

2K’s support page and its October 1 Steam announcement set out two dates. NBA 2K25 comes off sale on October 30, 2026, and is discontinued on December 31, ending multiplayer, Online Leagues, community sharing and Virtual Currency earning. As VGC noted this morning, that also takes out MyCAREER and MyTEAM from January 1, 2027, because their progression runs through VC. Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA stay playable offline, and existing owners can keep redownloading the game.

That offline list differs by console, though. Nintendo Life points out that the Switch version never had MyNBA, The W or MyWNBA, so Switch owners will be left with Play Now alone. If you still hold VC on any platform, spend it before December 31 rather than topping it up. Steam was also still listing the game at its full $69.99 when we checked this morning, which is a lot for a game whose headline modes have under three months left, so offline-only players should hold out for a sale before October 30.

Kingdom Hearts Collection: plan for 131GB on Switch 2 and three Platinums on PS5

Kingdom Hearts players have more to sort out before the collection launches this week. On Switch 2, Nintendo Life reports that the eShop listing puts the full install at 131GB, with the three apps at 54.1GB for HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, 26.8GB for HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and 45.2GB for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. Those figures only add up to 126.1GB, so plan around the larger number. Because each part is its own app, you can start with 1.5+2.5 rather than clearing room for the whole saga before Thursday, still the date on Nintendo’s $74.99 store page.

Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind is the third of the collection’s three apps, at 45.2GB on Switch 2 and with its own trophy list on PS5.

On PS5, Push Square found that the collection uses three trophy lists, one per bundle, and a PS5 list can only hold one Platinum. The lists on Kingdom Hearts Insider match, with III and Re Mind sharing one. That leaves Platinums for Kingdom Hearts, Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts III, while the PS4 bundles also awarded them for Kingdom Hearts II, Birth by Sleep and Re:Chain of Memories. Trophy hunters who own the PS4 collections can keep playing those on PS5 with their original lists, and anyone moving to the native version should check the 50 percent digital upgrade in our October 3 platform guide, which also covers why PS5 and Xbox pre-orders unlock on Tuesday while Switch 2 waits until Thursday.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Part 1 arrives Wednesday night Pacific time

Further out, Polyphony Digital’s post on gran-turismo.com lists October 15 for Update 1.72, the first half of the free Spec IV update, while Push Square and GamingBolt report October 14. The gap is a time-zone one: GamingBolt gives the release as 11 p.m. PDT on October 14, already October 15 in Japan and Europe, so West Coast players should see it late Wednesday night and East Coast players at 2 a.m. Thursday.

Part 1 adds the Sportsland SUGO circuit, six cars including the 1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta and Citroën 2CV Charleston, Car Concierge for ordering Used and Legend cars, a Car Viewer, brand Experiences and a higher Collector Level cap. GTPlanet notes that the V10 BMW M5 from September’s first trailer has moved to December’s Part 2, with the F355 taking its slot, and expects a preload window as with Spec II and III, though Polyphony has not confirmed one. If you have been saving credits on PS5 or PS4, budget for Concierge: GTPlanet’s look at the menu showed a Mercedes W196R at 20,789,980 credits.
