Tuesday, October 6 is the busiest unlock day of the month so far. Gears of War: E-Day went from early access to a worldwide launch this morning with a patch from the night before waiting to download, Star Wars: Galactic Racer has been playable since the small hours on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and October’s PlayStation Plus monthly games are now on the claim shelf. Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] pre-orders also unlocked on PS5 and Xbox, which our October 3 platform guide already covers.
Gears of War: E-Day is out worldwide, and the October 5 patch is the one to download first
Xbox Wire’s early access post set the worldwide launch for 8:00 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC) today, and Xbox.com now lists the game as available on Xbox Series X|S, the Microsoft Store and Steam. That is the moment Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members get the full game. Game Pass Premium and Essential do not, since Xbox’s own day-one page says new releases are limited to Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with Premium picking up Xbox-published games within a year of launch. Buyers pay $69.99 for Standard or $99.99 for Premium, with a $30 upgrade between them on Xbox and Steam. The pre-order bonus with the Exfil Dom skin required an order before 7:59 a.m. PT, so it is no longer on offer.
Before you jump in, let the update finish. The Coalition’s October 5 patch notes, which GameSpot reproduced the same day, fix Versus Social matches stuck on “Waiting for players,” the “Bilefrog-Kalona” error that signed split-screen players out after suspending and resuming, and Xbox authentication when the console clock is badly out of sync. They also clear several campaign objective bugs. One small discrepancy is worth knowing if you hit the Horde Siege extraction bug: the official notes name the Plaza Ruins Blitz mission, while GameSpot’s copy says Downtown West. Steam’s PC listing asks for 115GB on an SSD, and Xbox.com notes that online co-op, Horde Siege and Versus need a Game Pass plan that includes online multiplayer. Our E-Day review roundup has the critic view.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer unlocked at 2 a.m. PT, and Steam now lists a recommended spec
Galactic Racer unlocked at the same moment everywhere, 09:00 UTC, which GameRant and Twin Suns Gaming both put at 2:00 a.m. PT, with no early access for any edition. Steam lists it at $59.99, with a $19.99 Deluxe Upgrade, and our review consensus piece has the critical picture.

PC players get one useful change since the weekend. Twin Suns Gaming reported on Sunday that Steam showed only a minimum spec, but the page now also lists a recommended one: a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 Ti, Arc B580 or RX 6700 XT, with 50GB on an SSD either way. It also discloses Denuvo with a five-machine activation limit. On PS5, the reported 36GB download comes from a fan-run tracking account rather than Sony or the publisher, so leave some margin.
October’s PS Plus games are live, but check you claimed Hunt itself
The PlayStation Blog put F1 25 (PS5), Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5) and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5 and PS4) on every tier from today until Monday, November 2, and GameRant confirmed this morning that all three are live. Hunt is where you need to be careful. VGTimes reports that some players can only find the free Hunt Starter Pack, a separate PS Plus add-on that requires the base game, and that the full game has turned up late in some regions. Make sure the full Hunt: Showdown 1896 is in your library rather than just the pack, and check again later if it has not appeared yet.
F1 fans should also note that Sony’s post lists only F1 25 itself. The 2026 Season Pack with the Audi and Cadillac teams is a separate paid add-on, at $24.99 list on Steam.
