A verified October 2026 subscription timeline from Xbox Wire and Devolver: Keeper and Gears E-Day on Game Pass, Mycopunk day-one on PS Plus Extra, plus the Essential (Sep 30), Extra (Oct 14), and next Game Pass wave announcement windows still ahead.
Rematch is live on Xbox Game Pass Essential, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 expands onto Premium, EA Sports FC 27 unlocks worldwide, and Free Play Days keep Division 2 and PGA Tour 2K25 free through Sunday.
Silent Hill: Townfall opens on PS5 and PC at Metacritic 81 from roughly 68 reviews: IGN and PC Gamer love St. Amelia’s fog and puzzles, VGC’s 3/5 blames The Weight’s stealth, and the buy-now call splits by how much stalker horror you can stand.
September 24’s Switch 2 eShop puts SEGA’s paid Shinobi port with save carry, Square Enix’s full-price Dragon Quest XI S without save conversion, and Nightdive’s free SiN Reloaded upgrade on the same shelf—proof mid-gen continuity still has no single rulebook.
CONTROL Resonant unlocks worldwide at 7:00 AM PT on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Silent Hill: Townfall lands the same day on PS5 and PC, and Farming Camp launches across Steam and consoles with a two-week 20% digital discount.
This week’s mid-gen story is not another silicon rumor—it is firmware finishing homework. PS5 Pro’s Enhance PSSR Image Quality is now on by default, Switch 2 docked VRR is live but whitelist-gated, and Xbox Game Pass is stacking dated tiles from Mad King today through Gears: E-Day in early October.
The Verge and Twisted Voxel widen CONTROL Resonant’s eve-of-launch split (VGC 5/5 vs Eurogamer 3/5), Rivage’s time-loop puzzles land mixed with a GenAI side-eye, Nighthawks opens at a PC Gamer 89, and Dune: Awakening’s console solo mode keeps scoring friendly eights.
From Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s first-print textured foil driving Brazilian retailers to beg for double allocations, to THQ Nordic’s free Switch→Switch 2 patch for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed on October 6—late September shows publishers splitting between collectible scarcity and library continuity.
Sony’s Autumn Adventures sale discounts 600-plus PS5 games through October 7, Mad King Redemption joins Game Pass Ultimate/Premium/PC today, and The Witcher 3 Remastered is already surfacing on Switch 2 Home screens ahead of its September 29 launch.
On Hobbit Day, Aspyr dated Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY and Shadow of War Definitive for Switch 2 on Sept. 30—first Nintendo hardware appearance, 50% pre-order off—while Townfall, Control Resonant early access, Dune/Well Dweller, Minecraft Dungeons II, and Game Pass removals crowd the same mid-gen calendar.
